There`s more to Fairtrade than Coffee and Bananas

Whilst there are now many foodstuffs and some clothing available under the recognisable Blue, Black and Green Fair Trade Logo there are also numerous useful products to be obtained which have been Fairly Traded and Ethically purchased from Challenged Communities Across the world.
For example: childrens`s clothing, jewellery, handbags, rugs, pictures, basketware

The Buyers at Style Trading have known this for sometime and as long ago as 1998 were accepted as members of Bafts ( British Association for Fair Trade Shops).
Strong supporters of fair-trade they have travelled themselves to the Far East on many occasions to visit suppliers and ensure that the products have been manufactured in good working conditions, where staff welfare is a priority, children are not abused, women are given equal rights and pay, and the communities are benefiting from the export trade.
Fairly traded labels are then only attached to a product if all the above applies AND a premium price has been paid for the item.
In addition to the products Style import directly there are now many UK suppliers who also guarantee their ranges to be Fairly Traded.
Style will be bringing more and more of these items into the store in the next year and have this week launched their
Fair Trade Fortnight Promise
Which is to place 1 new product in the
Fair Trade Spotlight
Every month for the next year
This will involve showing the product together with a full story and pictures attached describing where and by whom the item is made. So essentially understanding the community behind the item. After all the world is really a small place, and it helps to know the face behind the label.

COMPETITION TIME

Just have to tell you the most lovely story about our great big Christmas competition!
The winners of the big prize of £500 had a lovely day spending their way around the store on us, and guess what?
It turns out the day they made the entry last year, they had come up to the Lake District to get married.
Could not have fixed it if we had tried!
Well done to them and keep on trying everyone. We still do the regular monthly for £100.Its got to be worth it!
